Christmas at Marist Cambodia

After a week of practice and preparation all was ready for the students and staff of Marist Solidarity Cambodia to celebrate Christmas. A group of students with Br Terry had prepared a drama to tell the story of the birth of Jesus. This drama was presented with grace and dignity and was appreciated by all present. This was followed by a prayer service.

After the prayers it was time to reveal the Christmas tree. Some of our younger students engaged all of us with a chorus of “welcome to Christmas Day” in Khmer. Our staff had beautifully prepared the gathering space. There was a time of gift giving and some food to eat. We were blessed with the presence of Bishop Olivier who spoke to all of us and also had some gifts for the children.

One feature of our Christmas day event is the return of ex-students, some faithfully every year.

We thank everyone involved in this joyful celebration

Enjoy the images of the day with many of the students wearing their new orange shirts. Our nativity pieces are carved by our art teacher Noeun, he adds a new piece each year.
